Hiking Van Sickle State Park Trailhead
With summer winding down in Lake Tahoe a small group met up on Saturday morning to hike the Van Sickle State Park Trailhead. The weather was perfect and nothing beats the fresh air around the gorgeous Tahoe lake. The overall hike was easy to moderate. There was no scrambling and you follow straightforward trail directions. There are a few different routes and trails you can take with plenty of signage to keep you from getting lost. At one point along the trail you reach a bridge covering a small waterfall. It’s the prefect place to rest and enjoy the tranquil sounds of the running water.
- Hiking Distance: 3.6 Miles
- Hiking Time: 2.5 Hours
- Class: 2 of 5
- Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
- Exposure: 1 of 5
- Danger Level: 1 of 5
- Pace: Easy
Feel free to step away from the trails to scamper up some great rocks for some photo opportunities. You will be in the shade from the trees for about half of the tour. Note that this trail is also open to mountain bikers and horseback riders. We ran into a few throughout the morning and easily had room to step aside and let them pass. There is a small parking lot area at the start of the hike for you to park your vehicles. I suggest arriving earlier in the day because spaces could become limited further in the day, especially on the weekends and when it is nice out.
